Maltexco produce specialty malts from selected malted barley obtained from our own malting house. Thus, in case of caramel malts the raw material is green malt (that comes directly from the malt house’s germination boxes), while roasted malts are produced from dry malt.

Our specialty malts are obtained using an automated and flexible process that permits, through different degrees of toasting, obtain a wide organoleptic range of these products.

Caramel malt, also known as Crystal Malt, is a 100% natural product made from green malt. During the toasting process the sugars are caramelized developing unique flavors, aromas and colors.


Applications
  • Red and amber beers.
  • Caramel malt flour.

Features

  • Appearance : Friable golden brown kernels.
  • Aroma : Pleasant, sweeter and more intense than pilsner malt.
  • Tasted : Caramel, sweet and pleasant.

  • Humidity : Máximum 7.5%

Roasted malts (including chocolate, coffee and black malt) are 100% natural products made from pilsner malt. Thanks to the high temperatures achieved during the roasting process the product develops intense flavors and aromas.
